Let's Talk Trash
We’ve made it our goal to prevent as much trash as possible from going into landfills. That’s why our bucket and wood products are all made with repurposed materials, saving them from the dismal destination that is a landfill, and giving them new life.
Why Landfills are NOT the Answer
Think about it, you wouldn’t want pockets of garbage covering your face, so why are we indifferent about doing exactly that to the earth? Landfills are creating a slew of issues for this beautiful planet as enormous mounds of waste build up across the earth, leading to disruptions within the natural cycle, destroying millions of acres with garbage. To make matters worse, about 2/3rds of material that ends up in landfills is biodegradable. As a result, greenhouse gasses such as methane and carbon dioxide are released back into the atmosphere where they amplify climate change as leachate (the liquid formed from waste breaking down) can slowly contaminate the land and nearby water sources. In fact, studies show that living near a landfill has adverse health effects for residents. It’s true that landfill technology has improved over time, but as far as this planet goes, landfills remain to be the least ideal place for waste to end up. That’s why it’s so important that we all do our part to limit the amount of trash that meets this fate.
How We Turn Trash into Treasure
We collect 5-gallon buckets and scrap wood that would have otherwise been tossed into a landfill from local businesses. We personally conduct collections in large batches to avoid excessive travel emissions.
|
Buckets are thoroughly cleaned to remove remaining food residue and scent, stickers are scraped and washed away, and finally, the buckets are sanitized. Wood is sorted through and cleaned until ready to be transformed into a product.
|
5-gallon buckets are then hand-fashioned into a unique product. This could include drilling, sawing, fastening, and adding other details to make it into the ideal sustainable product. Wood products are created by sanding, cutting, and handcrafting the wood into optimal products based on the type of reclaimed wood.
|
This cycle continues to keep plastic and wood from entering the landfill while providing customers with long-lasting unique products for camping, power outages, gardening and other activities. This is how Branching Together turns trash into treasure for your sustainable life.
|
About 91% of plastic is not recycled and ends up in a landfill. Even if recycling is an option, there are numerous types of plastic, such as 5-gallon buckets, that cannot even be recycled. That’s why we collect 5-gallon buckets from local businesses, clean them, and transform them into products to help people live more sustainably in an effort to do our part to prevent massive amounts of plastic from ever seeing the landfill.

Wood makes up about 8% of waste in landfills. We all know that wood is a renewable material and that it is often repurposed, but landfills are simply the easiest method of waste management for many individuals and businesses. That’s where we come in! All of our wood products are handcrafted with wood waste from local businesses. Your mindful purchase reduces the percentage of wood that enters the landfills.
