Why Sustainability?

We turn trash into treasure because, well, we can! Too many renewable and usable materials end up in landfills, which you can read about here, so we stepped in to keep items in circulation and out of the landfill. We collect trash, primarily 5-gallon buckets and scrap wood, from local businesses across the Willamette Valley. By doing so, vast amounts of plastic that does not decompose for hundreds of years, as well as perfectly functional wood, is all saved from rotting in a landfill. Keeping pre-existing materials in circulation is a necessary practice in protecting our planet.

As a business, we not only believe it is vital to be sustainable through every stage in the manufacturing process, but also to give back to the community at large, which is another core value of Branching Together. This is why 10% of each purchase of a River Rock Necklace is donated to American Rivers, which contributes to fresh water preservation and cleaning up rivers. Also, one tree is planted for every wood product sold. Branching Together’s purpose for existing is to help solve the trash problem, to provide accessible knowledge to those who seek it, and to allow customers to feel good about supporting a business that is doing it right every step of the way.

Every Branching Together bucket product is made with discarded buckets from a local business, and our wood products are made with 100% reclaimed wood. A single 5-gallon bucket is just over 1 lb. of heavy duty plastic, often discarded after one use, and wood waste makes up about 8% of waste in landfills.

It's shocking to consider how many materials are discarded by businesses around the world on a daily basis. At Branching Together, we prove that the extra work to save a bucket and restore wood is well worth the outcome of a better Earth.

​The vast majority of Branching Together packages are shipped with reused packing materials to deliver your products safely, securely, and sustainably. We are always striving to reduce our impact where possible, and choose the most sustainable options when purchasing new materials.

​Paper inserts are printed on post consumer recycled paper. Our business cards and 'thank you' inserts are printed on green banana paper, a sustainably obtained byproduct of banana farming.
